Live at the Otto Club – Sherman Irby

Check out saxophonist Sherman Irby’s new album “Live At the Otto Club.” Most of you may know Mr. Irby from his extensive stint with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Everytime I see him perform, I leave in disbelief of his ability to mix technical fluency with downright dirty blues playing. If you’ve heard him play with Lincoln Center, you would be a fool not to invest in this incredible collection of songs.

Sherman’s “warm and soulful sound” (All Music Guide) alongside his “fleet technique and steeped-in-blues sensibility” (Chicago Tribune) are the main reasons why I never turn down a chance to see Mr. Irby perform.
